Ace Indian discus thrower Krishna Poonia qualified for the final with a brilliant throw of 63.54m at the Women’s Discus Throw qualification event.

Sania-Paes vs Azarenka/Mirnyi match delayed

The match was scheduled to begin at 11 pm (IST) but it has been delayed as Victoria Azarenka some time back completed her match against against Serena Williams. So probably she needs some time to start fresh in the mixed doubles category.

Vijay Kumar makes the cut

Indian shooter Vijay Kumar’s made the cut for the Men’s 25m Rapid Fire Pistol final after finishing fourth in the qualification stage. He has an overall score of 585 after stage 2. En route to his total score of 585, Kumar became the second shooter to break the previous Olympic record of 583 during the second stage of qualification.

Om Prakash Singh fails

Meanwhile, Om Prakash failed to qualify in shot put. He fouled in his third attempt to finish with a best of 19.86m.

Vijay Kumar in action in Rapid Fire Pistol

Indian shooter Vijay Kumar’s qualification stage 2 in the Men’s 25m Rapid Fire Pistol has ended with an average score of 9.750. He has 292 in the second stage and a total score of 585. He currently stands at fifth position.

Gagan Ullalmath finishes last

Swimmer Gagan Ullalmath finished last in the 1500m freestyle with a time of 16:31:14.

Narang crashes out; Karmakar qualifies for Final

Joydeep Karmakar, who was tied joint 4th with the nine more shooters, qualifies for the final. He shot 51.6 in the shoot-off to finish seventh best.

THe biggest disappointment, however, is that Gagan Narang has crashed out of the event after finishing at 18th.

Overall, Gagan started well but in the end it was not good shooting by Gagan Narang. He shot 593 out of 600. He is at 18th. It’s all over for him.

But it was very good show by not-so-famous Karmakar. He came up with two perfect 100 in the last two series to end 595 out of 100. He is the one of the 9 shooters who are tied in 4th place. He has to take part in shoot-off which will determine whether he will qualify for the finals.

Gagan Narang and Joydeep Karmakar in Action

Ace Indian shooter Gagan Narang, who won a bronze medal in the ongoing London Games on the men`s 10m air rifle event on MOnday, starts his campaign for another medal in a short while from now. He competes in the Men`s 50m Rifle Prone qualification round.

Another Indian shooter, Joydeep Karmakar, is also competing in the same event.

Heartbreaks for India as Saina Nehwal loses

World number one Wang Yihan of China outplayed India`s Saina Nehwal to beat 21-13, 21-13 in the semifinals of women`s badminton singles match at the London Olympics 2012 on Friday.

Three unforced errors from Saina in a row. Wang beat Saina 21-13, 21-13 in the semifinals. However, Saina will have another shot for a bronze medal in the play-offs.
