London 2012 Olympics medal count, results Day 15; U.S. leads

The London 2012 Summer Olympic Games continued on Saturday August 12, Day 15 of the competition, and the second to last day of events. The United States continued to lead over China in the total Olympics medal race as well as in the gold medal race. Russia was in third place ahead of Great Britain in total medals; however, Great Britain still remained in third place in the number of gold medals earned.The United States wins the gold medal in women’s basketball after competing in the gold medal game against France at the London Olympic Games on Saturday, August 11, 2012.

As of the end of competition on Day 15, 287 out of the total 302 events scheduled for the London Games have been completed with 15 events yet to be decided on Sunday.
